Point-of-sale software provider Vend has opened a new headquarters in Melbourne. The new office is expected to create 30 ICT jobs in Victoria by 2017.
Vend has secured more than $9 million in capital funding since its 2010 launch. Its systems is used by more than 1000 stores in Australia, and 100 small businesses have been singing up every month, according to Vend CEO Vaughan Rowsell. The company this year announced a partnership with EFTPOS provider Tyro.
The opening of a Melbourne office “reflects our growing customer base in Australia and supports our global growth strategy,” he said. Vend has had a sales director in Melbourne since February.
Vend expects to have seven full-time staff by year end, and 30 within three years, the company said. Vend also has offices in the US, Canada and New Zealand and plans to expand into the UK and Asia starting next year, it said.
Victoria's technology minister, Gordon Rich-Phillips, applauded the announcement.
“Vend’s investment in Victoria aligns with the Victorian Coalition Government’s overarching policy framework Victoria’s Technology Plan for the Future – Information and Communication Technology, which aims to develop innovative industries within the state, particularly capabilities within the ICT sector,” Rich-Phillips said in a statement.
“The Coalition Government is committed to supporting the development of the ICT sector by attracting new expertise and encouraging business growth.”
