Fujitsu signs $30m managed services contract with Salmat

Salmat has struck a $30 million five-year IT managed services deal with Fujitsu.
The contract includes storage management, data protection and hosting of internal administrative applications such as email. Fujitsu was awarded the contract following a competitive tender process.
Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand managed services group executive director Tim White told Computerworld Australia that the company is implementing a new data centre network design.
“The new platform is a NetApp FlexPod solution utilising VMWare virtualization and vCenter tools. The compute platform is hosted on a Cisco unified computing system [UCS] with a network platform built on the Nexus technology stack,” he said.

He added that the company will be providing Salmat with data centre services from its Sydney and Melbourne facilities.
According to White, there are a number of areas for future collaboration including digital media, service desk portal and cloud services.
