Optus Business unveils unified communications as a service

In a bid to target customers who are looking to migrate from a traditional PABX phone system, Optus Business and Singtel have launched Unified Communications as a service (UCaaS) which includes voice, video and messaging.
According to the telco, UCaaS is hosted in data centres in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore.
“Unlike conventional UC solutions which require upfront capital investments and hosting on the customer’s premises, UCaaS is offered on a monthly subscription,” Optus Business managing director John Paitardis said in a statement.
“This means enterprise customers can manage operating costs and scale up or down the number of users depending on their needs- ideal for organisations going through business transformation.”
Services offered on the UCaaS platform include enterprise telephony, voicemail, unified messaging, video and Web conferencing.

In addition, Optus Business unveiled contact-centre-as-a-service (CCaaS) on Cisco’s hosted collaboration platform at CiscoLive in Melbourne.
Targeted at companies who operate call centres and want to increase online engagement with their customers, CCaaS includes Web chat and email services.
“With CCaaS, customers can shift their current contact centre services across to an enterprise-grad, hosted model that removes the need for up-front infrastructure spend,” Paitardis said.
The service is offered on a monthly billing structure.
