In brief: ACMA issues warning for Do Not Call breaches

ACMA warns Telco Service Holdings over Do Not Call Register

Telco Service Holdings has been issued with a formal warning after breaching Do Not Call provisions, the Australian Communications and Media Authority revealed today.

Telemarketers hired by Telco Service Holdings, which was formerly known as Sure Telecom, called 25 numbers listed on the Do Not Call Register, ACMA said in a statement. The calls were made between August and October last year.

The ACMA issued the warning for breaching Section 40 of the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 on 27 June.

Earlier this year Melbourne-based Zone Telecom was stung with a $20,400 infringement notice for breaches of the Do Not Call Register.

The ACMA revealed in October that the Do Not Call Register had grown to 9 million numbers.
