RiverCity Labs managing director Steve Baxter has re-joined the Vocus Communications (ASX:VOC) board of directors after taking an 18 month break in 2013 for family reasons.
Based in Brisbane, Baxter has invested in a number of tech startups including txt4coffee, TrekTraka, goCatch, OrionVM and Atomo Diagnostics.
He also co-founded dark fibre and peering company PIPE Networks in 2001. Baxter left the company in 2008 but remained a non-executive director. In March 2010, TPG Group (ASX:TPM) acquired PIPE Networks for $373 million.
In a statement to the ASX, Vocus Communications chairman David Spence said that Baxter is an IT industry leader with knowledge across a range of fields including data centres, fibre and international network capacity.
“I am delighted to be working with Steve again, his industry skills and experience will be a huge asset to the board of directors,” said Spence.
