iiNet reports fibre break in Darwin
- 03 November, 2014 16:08
Approximately 4,000 iiNet customers in Darwin won’t be able to access the Internet due to an unplanned outage, the ISP has reported.
A suspected fibre break 200 kilometres south of Darwin is believed to be the cause. Links between Darwin, Adelaide and Brisbane are down.
“We have provided updates on our phone system to approximately 4,000 Darwin customers now affected, and we are currently working with our fibre provider to resolve the issue,” an iiNet spokesperson said in a statement.
“Affected customers will be unable to access websites and check email. Please be aware that Netphone customers may be unable to place or receive calls.”
The spokesperson added that iiNet’s engineers are investigating. There is no estimated time on when broadband services will be restored to Darwin customers.
