Cloud365 signs data centre deal with Equinix Australia

Equinix has signed up another customer for its Melbourne data centre (ME1), which is cloud services provider Cloud365.

The company provides software-as-a-service (SaaS) to customers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States.

By deploying in ME1, Cloud365 can connect directly to its customers and partners within the data centre to deliver its solutions.

“Cloud is the key driver for our clients and we’re seeing growing demand from customers as they realise the benefits of not having to invest in their own infrastructure and network capacity,” Cloud365 general manager and founder, Darren Moss, said in a statement.

“Equinix allows us to reduce costs and optimise data centre infrastructure.”

The cloud services provider began working with Equinix in October 2013 when it took space in the data centre provider’s International Business Exchange facility in Virginia, US.

In November 2014, telecommunications firm National Voice + Data signed up to take space in ME1.

The deal means the telco can expand its voice, data and cloud infrastructure services to customers in Victoria. National Voice + Data has used Equinix’s Sydney data centre, SY3, since 2009.

In October 2014, digital entertainment network provider Cinenet announced that it would be one of the first tenants in ME1.

At the time, Cinenet director Tony Clark said it would be investing $70,000 in network infrastructure at ME1.

Once completed, the $66 million ME1 facility will provide customers with capacity of 1,500 cabinets. According to the vendor, 375 cabinets are scheduled for completion by December 31, 2014.
