KPMG Australia to acquire First Point Global

KPMG Australia is set to acquire Australian cyber security firm First Point Global for an undisclosed sum as the consultancy firm looks to beef up its cyber security services.

First Point Global’s founding partners John Havers and Jan Zeilinga along with 30 employees will form a division called KPMG First Point Global. The team will offer KPMG clients a number of services including consulting, systems implementation and support.

According to Havers, digital identity and access management have grown in importance over the past 10 years.

“Digital identity and its management underpins customer-facing services which are strategic for the growth and survival of businesses, and C-level executives and boards care about that,” he said in a statement.

Commenting on the acquisition, KPMG Australia CEO Gary Wingrove said it wants to create one of the leading cyber security consulting groups in Australia.

KPMG Australia has made a number of acquisitions over the past 18 months including social media risk consultant firm SR7, the Melbourne office of Pacific Strategy Partners, mining services consultancy Momentum Partners and SGA Property Consultancy.
