Telstra has this morning announced that Warrick Bray will replace Andy Penn as chief financial officer.
Penn from tomorrow takes on the role of CEO at the telco, replacing David Thodey.
Bray is currently Telstra group managing director, products. His appointment as CFO takes effect from tomorrow.
Bray joined Telstra in 2009 as head of corporate strategy and was appointed head of mobiles in 2010. The telco’s statement on his appointment said that he had grown mobiles from an $8 billion business in FY11 to $9.7 billion in FY14.
“Warwick has decades of knowledge in and around telecommunications and technology and significant financial experience proven by his business results in Telstra and other companies,” Penn said in a statement.
“We are pleased to have appointed Warwick from within our executive ranks, highlighting the depth of talent within the business. He is well regarded in the industry and has a proven track record in leading and significantly growing multi-billion dollar businesses.”
Thodey in February announced that he would retire.
Thodey took the reins from former CEO Sol Trujillo in 2009, after initially joining Telstra in 2001.
Penn signed on as Telstra's CFO in 2012. In May last year he was also appointed Group Executive International.
