Rio Tinto signs $20m managed services contract with Empired

Contract involves support and project services for more than 170 applications

Empired has won an application managed services contract worth an estimated $20 million with resources firm Rio Tinto.

The ASX-listed IT services provider said that the contract is for an initial three-year period, with two one-year extensions possible.

Empired said the contract involved support for more than 170 applications, including Oracle, .NET, SharePoint and Microsoft CRM.

"This award speaks volumes about the quality of services currently being provided by Empired to Rio Tinto under the TST [Technical Systems Transformation] program and I would like to thank all our staff for their professionalism and dedication to Empired and our clients," the company's MD, Russell Baskerville, said in a statement.

"Rio Tinto continues to present a great opportunity to Empired and we are focused on working with them to identify areas where we can assist Rio Tinto to deliver on its stated business objectives," Baskerville said.
