Data#3 takes majority stake in Wi-Fi analytics firm

Firm now owns 56.7 per cent of Discovery Technology

Data#3 (ASX: DTL) has taken an additional 14.2 per cent share in Wi-Fi analytics firm Discovery Technology, giving it a 56.7 per cent share.

The company has an option to acquire the remaining shares by 30 June 2017.

Data#3 announced its [artnid:547504|intention|new]] to acquire Discovery Technology in June last year.

At the time, managing director John Grant said the acquisition fits with two parts of its business strategy – cloud marketplace leadership and entry into the applications sector.

According to Data#3 CEO Laurence Baynham, the Wi-Fi sector remains “very active” with opportunities that have been in the pipeline coming to fruition.

In September, the system integrator acquired Brisbane-based IT consulting firm Business Aspect Group for $6 million as part of its move into consultancy services.

Business Aspect Group was formed in 2005 and has 70 staff based across offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
