Acquisitions boost Vocus Communications revenue

Vocus Communications (ASX: VOC) has reported revenues of $149.8 million, boosted by acquisitions of FX Networks in New Zealand and Enterprise Data Corporation (EDC) data centres in Australia.
Vocus purchased the data centres in February for $23.5 million. Meanwhile, it acquired FX Networks for $94 million in June last year.
It also picked up Amcom Telecommunications.
Vocus revenue was up from $92.3 million last year.
The results were achieved through a 40 per cent mix of organic growth and 60 per cent acquired businesses.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was $51.6 million, up from $33 million last year.
Underlying net profit after tax (NPA) was $18.1 million, up from $13.6 million in 2014.
Revenue from fibre/Ethernet was $64.5 million, up from $28.2 million in 2014 while voice was $12.3 million.
Data centre revenue was $26.6 million, up from $18.6 million, while Internet revenue was $43.9 million, up from $37.6 million.
The Vocus fibre network extends 1606 kilometres across Australia and 4396 kilometres across New Zealand.
Commenting on the results, CEO James Spenceley said the company had successfully executed on its growth strategy with the acquisition of FX Networks and Bentley/ EDC data centres.
“The acquisition of Amcom in July sets us up for another great year in FY16,” the CEO said.
