Duncan Hewett leaves IBM for VMware

VMware has poached IBM Software’s vice president for APAC, Duncan Hewett, to head up the virtualization vendor’s Asia Pacific and Japan business.
The company announced today that Hewett had been appointed senior vice president and general manager of VMware APJ.
Hewett has previously held a variety of roles at IBM, dating as far back as 1987. Prior to his IBM Software role, which he has had since early 2014, he was IBM’s vice president, sales and operations, growth markets.
“Duncan Hewett is taking over at an exciting stage of VMware’s growth in APJ, which is one of our best-performing geographical regions,” said VMware executive vice president, worldwide sales, Maurizio Carli.
“A substantial opportunity lies ahead for VMware in this part of the world. Duncan’s rich experience in the software industry – as well as his deep understanding of the Asia Pacific markets – will help us take our APJ business to the next level,” Carli said in a statement.
