NAB payment processing affected by system outages

Mobile banking also affected, bank says

A number of NAB’s services were hit by system outages last night, with problems for some services continuing this morning, the bank said.

“NAB has been experiencing outages to some of our services overnight,” NAB chief customer officer, consumer banking and wealth, Andrew Hagger, said in a statement.

“This has been affecting a number of our systems, including our customer call centres, Mobile Internet Banking and the processing of some customer payments.”

Hagger said ATMs and payments using NAB credit and debit cards were not affected.

“There has been a delay in processing some transactions. If customers need help accessing their money our branches and business banking centres will be open,” the NAB executive said.

“We’re sorry that we’ve let our customers down and we’ll do our best today to work with you through our branches.”

Hagger said the bank would issue regular updates on the situation.

NAB is currently seeking a chief technology and operations officer (CTOO). The bank recently unveiled an innovation alliance with Bank Leumi and CIBC.
