Victoria is seeking a chief information officer for its Service Victoria initiative, with the state government planning to appoint a second IT executive to deliver initial technology capabilities for the new agency.
The Victorian government announced last year it would launch an agency with a similar remit to New South Wales’ Service NSW. Service Victoria is intended to streamline access to government transactional services.
This year’s state budget allocated $81.1 million to the project, with the funding to be used to develop “new systems, processes and digital platforms”.
“Service Victoria will create a new whole of government service capability to enhance the delivery of government transactions with citizens, enable the delivery of a more effective customer experience and create new distribution channels for simple, high volume transactions,” budget documents stated.
That funding injection built on $15 million allocated in the previous year for planning and early development work.
The government will appoint a Service Victoria IT delivery director to manage a short-term program of work to help provide the initial technology capabilities for the new agency. The initial program of work is expected to last 18 to 24 months.
Peter William Partners is managing the CIO recruitment process for the government.
The new CIO will be “focused on building the future organisation and the required technology capability that can support the implemented solutions on an ongoing basis,” according to the government’s description of the new position.
The CIO will report to Service Victoria’s interim CEO.
