Microsoft Australia has appointed former Borland Software Corporation sales manager Finula Crowe to the position of product manager, developer tools within its developer and platform strategy group.
Boasting of eight years experience in the IT industry, Crowe takes the reins from current developer product manager Nick Abbott, who previously held the position for three and a half years.
In its press release announcing Crowe’s appointment, Microsoft stated Abbott, who is an Australian, will move to the company’s Redmond, US, office to take up a newly created position in business development for the developer division. A spokesperson for the company said Abbott's new role as a business development manager for the US developer division will allow him to “put his background in developer marketing to work to develop strategic partnerships with likeminded companies”.
Crowe’s responsibilities as product manager of development will include the strategy, marketing and evangelism of Microsoft’s .NET developer tools.
The developer and platform strategy group currently consists of almost 20 people working in a variety of strategic roles including marketing, sales and industry development. The division’s aim is to assist developers in building applications for the Microsoft platform using the .NET Framework and Visual Studio .NET, the spokesperson said.
Before joining Microsoft, Crowe held the position of sales director and country manager for Australia, New Zealand and India at international components and infrastructure software and consulting group Rogue Wave Software. Prior to Rogue, Crowe spent three years working for Borland Software Corporation as both product line sales manager for the enterprise business unit in Asia-Pacific and sales manager for the northern region of Australia.
