Online fraudster faces jail sentence

An Adelaide businessman who developed a software program for online credit card transactions that earnt him a motza was jailed for six years on Friday for fraud.

Rohan James Dunstan was sentenced in the South Australian District Court after earlier pleading guilty to one count of fraudulent conversion and 32 counts of fraud other than false pretences.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge John Sulan said Dunstan stole more than $152,000 from the Flight Centre, a national chain of travel agencies, and $424,977 from other credit card accounts in Australia and overseas.

The money was used to prop up Financial Transaction Services, a business founded by Dunstan.

While Judge Sulan admitted that Dunstan was hard working and intelligent, he said his crimes represented a gross breach of trust. He fixed a non-parole period of four years.
