NEW YORK (07/07/2000) - Due to an editing error, the story, ".EU Creation Moves Ahead," posted July 5, incorrectly stated what the status of the existing European Union domain names would be once the .eu domain is approved. The .eu and the current country domain names -- such as .fr for France -- will coexist.

The .eu domain would not eliminate current country domain names.The error, in the last paragraph, has been corrected in the story in the database.
