Cisco Systems Inc. yesterday announced the availability of CiscoWorks Windows 5.0, management software for small and midsize businesses.

CiscoWorks Windows 5.0 integrates Ipswitch's WhatsUp Gold technology, which provides network-wide discovery, mapping, monitoring and notification capabilities. This lets customers monitor all network hardware, printers, servers and workstations from a single application, Cisco says.

The software also provides easier but more sophisticated monitoring and configuration of Cisco devices, Cisco says. It also displays multiple views of a full range of Cisco devices, which is designed to alleviate operational complexity.

Other components in CiscoWorks Windows 5.0 include:

*Threshold Manager, a threshold-setting and monitoring application for Remote Monitoring-enabled Cisco devices.

*StackMaker, which combines multiple Cisco devices into a single stack and visually manages them in a single window.

*Show Commands, which displays router operational information without requiring Cisco IOS commands.

CiscoWorks Windows 5.0 will be available in mid-January for $1,995.
