NetScout Grabs NextPoint

WESTFORD, MASS. (06/15/2000) - Net performance software vendor NetScout Systems Inc. is buying out rival NextPoint Networks Inc.

The US$60 million deal was announced Wednesday. NetScout is claiming the move will round out its lineup of network and application performance monitoring tools. NetScout will be acquiring NextPoint's enterprise performance analysis and reporting applications, software agents and service-level agreement enforcement tools.

Specifically, NetScout plans to integrate its nGenius line of real-time network performance tools with NextPoint's S3 lineup. This will give nGenius service-level management as well as server and network device capacity planning tools.
