The joint venture of Nokia Siemens Networks has agreed to purchase the network equipment division of Motorola for an estimated $US1.2 billion. HP says bye-bye (for now) to Android tablet

Rumors are circulating that the Android-based tablet from HP has been postponed. Put in context with the purchase of Palm and the commitment to deliver a WebOS tablet, "postponed" is probably just a fuzzy way of saying it will never enter production.

Windows Phone 7 offers superior business smartphone

Microsoft used its annual Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) in Washington, DC this week to reveal more details about the impending Windows Phone 7 smartphone platform. While Microsoft's smartphone market share has been plummeting, Windows Phone 7 could emerge as the best smartphone platform for businesses, and help Microsoft regain ground it has lost to RIM, Apple, and Google.

While that is impressive from a technology standpoint, 3Tb is a lot of data to entrust to a single device. It may not be wise for businesses to place all of their data 'eggs' in a single 3Tb (or larger) 'basket'.

The iPhone iOS4's battery bummer: The power 'vampire'

Users who upgraded to iOS4 are complaining their iPhone and iPod Touch batteries are mysteriously being sucked dry in record time. iOS4's new multitasking feature--a much sought after feature by business users who see the added functionality as a way to stay productive with their iPhone--is getting the initial blame. Whatever the cause, following the upgrade to iOS4, many users are complaining that battery life has been cut in half--or worse--inciting many to dub iOS4 a power "vampire".

Windows 7 sales are hot and just getting started

Microsoft reports that it has sold more than 150 million copies of the Windows 7 desktop operating system in the roughly nine months it's been available--making it the fastest selling OS in history.
