  • Top 12 Green-IT vendors 2010

Technology vendors and data center suppliers were also invited to participate in Computerworld's search for the Top Green-IT Organizations. These companies completed the same survey as the end-user organizations and were judged on the same criteria -- most notably, on their IT departments' efforts to reduce energy consumption in their IT equipment, and to use technology to conserve energy and lower carbon emissions. Here are the top 12, in ranked order:

  • Verizon Wireless readies LTE gear for businesses

CHICAGO -- Verizon Wireless and its partners will release new LTE devices for businesses and consumers in the first quarter of 2011 to take advantage of faster wireless speeds, including portable two-way videoconferencing gear that can be used by repairmen in the field to shorten repair times, a Verizon official said today.

  • Comparing Verizon Galaxy Tab vs. Verizon iPad

Verizon recently announced that it will begin selling the Apple iPad in its stores at the end of this month, followed by coming out as the first of the four major wireless carriers to officially confirm pricing and availability for the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet. With both tablets at their disposal, which represents the better value for business users?

  • Verizon's tiered data plans will save money

Verizon will move to tiered data pricing Oct. 28, but the changes will probably not affect most subscribers. Currently, Verizon charges $29.99 a month for an unlimited data plan that's required for all its smartphones, and that price won't change at the end of the month.

  • CDMA iPhone spotted in the wild?

Rumors say a Verizon-bound iPhone will be out in January, and that prototypes are out there in the wild. That's pretty much like Loch Ness monster stories, a story rumored to oblivion for years, but never came to fruition. That's unless a photo set from a blogger actually depicts the mythical CDMA iPhone.

  • AT&T, Verizon promote iPads and Galaxy tablets

CHICAGO -- Tablets computers are bound to be big sellers, and the two largest U.S. wireless carriers are getting ready to embrace that trend with retail sales of the already popular iPad and the yet-to-be released Galaxy Tab later this fall.

  • Apple's path to iPhone redemption runs through Verizon

The Verizon iPhone is coming! The Verizon iPhone is coming! I know this will come as a complete shock, but there are renewed reports (rumors, speculation -- call it what you want) that Verizon will soon offer the Apple iPhone. I don't know if these rumors are any more or less credible than the last 3,726 times we have heard the same thing, but I do know that for Apple to redeem the iPhone as a smartphone platform and be able to assert its dominance, it needs Verizon.
