Internode launches London PoP

Adds to existing points of presence in US, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Auckland

Internode has announced an upgrade to its network with a newly established point of presence (PoP) in London in bid to increasingly globalise its network.

The PoP provides Internode with a direct link between London and Singapore, as well as from London to PoPs in the US.

Internode chief executive officer, Patrick Tapper, said the new PoP would allow a direct data transit route to Europe and redundant global paths resulting in a reduced chance of network congestion and packet loss possibilities.

“It also means we're managing the network links end to end… to influence the outcomes better if there is ever a major international link failure,” Tapper said.

The Internet service provider (ISP) now claims to have 15.5 gigabits per second of international data capacity linking Australia to the rest of the world including a presence in San Jose, Los Angeles and Ashburn in the US, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Auckland and London.

In recent news, Internode has released microSIMs to enable iPad users over Optus 3G networks which incorporates the ISP’s MiFi mobile hotspot allowing users to create a wireless access point for up to five devices from a single 3G service.

The company also revamped its ADSL business broadband plans which offer a combination of increased data quotas and reduced prices.
