Synergy Plus picks up AirData, wants another buy

ASX-listed IT services provider goes on the acquisition path

ASX-listed IT services provider, Synergy Plus (ASX: SNR), will acquire mobility and wireless solution provider, AirData, for an undisclosed amount.

Synergy Plus will pick up all of AirData’s shares in a move it hopes will provide increased capability in enterprise mobility.

In a statement to the ASX, Synergy Plus CEO, Garry Henley, said the acquisition “further consolidates the company’s focus on the provision of ICT services nationally”.

Synergy Plus will take on 30 AirData staff; 21 in Sydney, seven in Melbourne and two in Queensland.

The company also announced its intention to acquire a managed services or hosting provider to "strengthen its existing managed services business and consolidate its cloud offering".

"Our ideal target will be a leader in the mid-market managed services or hosting industry, with a solid footprint and revenues of around $30 million," Henley said in a separate statement.

"We welcome discussions and encourage any interested parties to make confidential contact with us."

Earlier in the year, Synergy Plus settled on Alphawest founder and former chief executive officer, Henley, as its new chief executive officer.

Henley took over the reins from acting CEO, Peter Cappendell, who moved to the chief operating officer position.

The integrator was officially formed last year as a result of a merger between ComputerCorp and the then Hyro-owned IBM specialist unit, Synergy Plus.

The original plan for the merged integrator was supposed to also include S Central.

Henley's appointment followed news that Synergy Plus posted positive financial results to the ASX for the six months to 31 December 2009 and acquired staff and assets from failed rival Leading Solutions.
