Nortel secures deal with ISS

Nortel Networks and Internet Security Systems (ISS) have signed an agreement to integrate the latter's Safesuite security applications and Nortel's networking technology.

The companies will release integrated security solutions throughout 1999, starting with a version of ISS' RealSecure intrusion-detection system integrated with Nortel's Passport switches and access devices.

"We are actively engaged with [Nortel] in a technology-level discussion on what is the best method for us to get RealSecure directly integrated into switches and other gear as well," said Charles Meyers, vice president of business and corporate development at ISS. "What it gives IS managers is a more immediate solution for implementing intrusion detection cost-effectively in a switch environment."

ISS' Safesuite products include Internet Scanner, System Scanner, RealSecure, and Safesuite Decisions.
