HP introduces Web site health check

Hewlett-Packard Australia has announced the introduction in Australia of its free hpchecksweb.com program, which evaluates the performance and availability of corporate Web sites.

The service, managed and secured by HP OpenView software solutions, provides business-critical information on the quality of a company's Web services after evaluating its Internet presence for a period of 24 hours. The service consists of a fully automated system for customer registration, measurement of Web response times and reporting. Originally launched in May 2001, 700 corporate Web sites are being monitored each week.

Paul Muller, HP Australia's sales manager for enterprise software, said the program is designed to support companies serious about making a success of their investment in e-commerce infrastructure.

"Now more than ever, optimal customer experience has become the key to business success. Zena Research estimates $4.35 billion is lost in e-commerce sales each year due to unacceptable end user wait times online, a company's Web presence is essential to its success," he said.

The ‘hpchecksweb.com' program provides an analysis of Web site traffic, isolates sources of problems in Internet infrastructure and prevents problems from occurring before they have an impact on the business.

It also identifies services most commonly used and the point at which customers leave a transaction.

Companies in Australia wishing to participate in the HP corporate Web site health check can register at www.webcheck.hp.com.au.
