Integ swallows WA rival

Telco integrator Integ Communications has acquired rival Western Australian firm Icon Communications.

The acquisition will see Integ - a UXC company - extend into the WA contact centre and converged network market with expectations of a 10 to 15 percent increase in 2007 revenues for the Integ Group.

Icon communications manager Chris Upstone, who will be Integ WA manager, said the deal will benefit both companies.

"With the backing of Integ and UXC, we are well positioned to take advantage of the growth in the local economy that is being driven by the resources boom," Upstone said.

Integ Group CEO Ian Poole said while Icon will merge with its WA branch, product roadmaps and staff levels will remain the same for both companies

"Icon will significantly strengthen our ability to deliver secure data, voice and IP communication solutions to businesses and government organizations in WA over the next 12 months," Poole said.

"This is a positive step for customers [because] there are great technical synergies between the two companies which will enable a stronger support framework."

"In the next 18 months, Integ plans to further double its revenue in WA [by] focusing on IP communications, converged networks and contact centre solutions."

Icon was established in 2000 as a division of Icon Office Technology and focuses on communications solutions for the SMB market and call centre solutions to medium and large organizations in WA.
