Microsoft has provided an operating system update to synchronize time settings with Western Australia's daylight savings trial which is scheduled to run during December 3 to March 25, 2007.
Users who reside in WA, or have affiliations with the state, will need to apply two patches for the beginning of daylight savings in 2006 and for subsequent periods in following years.
Affected software includes Windows XP and Vista, Outlook 2003, Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003 (Outlook Web Access and Collaborative Data Objects), SharePoint Services, and CRM 1.2 and 3.0.
While an update is currently available for Windows XP, Vista and Windows Server, Outlook 2003 users will need to wait until one is created and must then manually change scheduled meeting times as they cannot be updated automatically.
The company also advised Windows CE and Mobile users to manually change the time settings on their devices to GMT+9 (Tokyo) as relative updates will not be created.
However, users can escape installing the updates for future requirements if the trial is not made permanent by WA Parliament.
