When internet service provider, iiNet, won it’s case against the Australian Federation for Copyright Theft in the Federal Court of Australia, the Twitterverse lit up.
Updates came thick and fast. Even news outlets got in on the act, the likes of SBS using the service to find customers of the ISP for comment,
“Are you an iiNET customer in Sydney? SBS is looking for reaction to the #iiTrial for a TV story. DM us with contact,” it announced via its Twitter account.
Many used the tag #iitrial. Initial tweets simply announced the outcome, however the support for the ISP on Twitter soon became apparent, with many applauding the outcome of the trial.
It was fitting. After all, Twitter has been used as a reporting medium throughout the case.
