Lenovo launches ThinkPad X1 business notebook

Lenovo's X1 is the company's thinnest ThinkPad

Lenovo has launched its thinnest ThinkPad laptop. The 13-inch Lenovo ThinkPad X1 notebook is less than 17mm high and weighs less than 1.7kg. All X1 laptops will run Intel's second-generation Core CPUs ('Sandy Bridge'). Models will be offered with Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.

The X1 includes Lenovo's 'RapidCharge' feature, which the company claims can charge the notebook's battery up to 80 per cent in half an hour. This is 2.5 times faster than a standard ThinkPad battery, according to Lenovo.

Although the notebook targets professional users, David Heyworth, Think Product Group manager, said in a statement that it also has "non-traditional business features like Dolby Home Theater sound". The X1 has been built to meet "eight military specifications" for ruggedness according to Lenovo.

PC World Australia gave the X1's predecessor, the Lenovo ThinkPad X301, 4.5 out of five stars.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 will be available from 17 May starting from $1959.
