Lenovo will distribute its new ThinkPad X130e laptop to more than 60,000 students across NSW in 2012.
Developed in cooperation with the NSW Department of Education and Communities, the ruggedised laptop is aimed specifically at students from grades K-12.
Weighing less than 1.8 kilograms, the 11.6-inch Lenovo ThinkPad X130e features a rubber cover that absorbs impact, “33 per cent stronger” edges, a tougher bezel and hinges and recessed ports to keep them protected.
It also comes with an Intel Celeron or i3 processor, up to 500 GB of storage, wireless connectively, multimedia tools, and a six-cell battery that has up to 8.5 hours of battery life.
“The school environment requires high-durable and well-performing laptops, with all-day battery life,” Dianne Marshall from the NSW Department of Education and Communities, said in a statement.
“Lenovo has combined these features in the specially designed ThinkPad X130e and tailored it to meet the needs of students and schools.”
The Lenovo ThinkPad X130e is the world’s first value laptop to pass military specifications for durability.
Earlier this month, the Queensland Department of Education and Training announced it will deploy the Acer Aspire 1830T notebook to 65,000 school students in Queensland by the end of the year.
