National Australia Bank (NAB) has apologised to customers for an issue with NAB Visa debit cards that had charged customers twice for card transactions.
The bank tweeted: “Duplicated transactions should now be reversed in impacted accounts and account balances corrected. We're very sorry!”
Earlier today, NAB said via Twitter that the issue was with its Visa debit cards.
“We apologise for any inconvenience because of an issue that has duplicated some credit card transactions. We are working on fixing it,” read the tweet.
An NAB spokesperson told Computerworld Australia that a technical error, which occurred on Monday night, caused a number of transactions made on Visa debit cards to be duplicated on customers' accounts.
"NAB has now reversed duplicated transactions so that customers are not out-of-pocket. We recognise this morning has been inconvenient for our customers and we apologise for any inconvenience caused," said the spokesperson.
"Throughout the morning we worked hard to reverse these transactions and, where customers needed immediate access to cash, we provided a temporary fee-free overdraft facility."
