Vic education department signs ASG for managed services

IT services firm scores $9m manged services deal

The Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) has signed a two-year, $9 million managed services contract with ASG (ASX: ASZ).

The contract's scope includes servers, storage and backup, hosted from DET data centres for the department’s Information Technology Division.

The contract includes three optional one-year contract extensions.

ASG has worked with DET since early 2007 on application maintenance and infrastructure hosting services of a payroll system and recruitment on line system.

“Through ASG’s in-depth understanding of the department’s ITD requirement, we are able to implement a cohesive and accountable service delivery model that ensures operational ownership,” said ASG CEO Geoff Lewis.

“State government departments are looking for cost-effective, scalable and flexible IT systems that can help deliver their objectives,” he said in a statement.

In August, ASG reported revenues of $164 million for the year ended 30 June 2015.

This was up from $160 million in 2014. ASG signed over $200 million in contracts over the last 12 months.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBTIDA) was $20.2 million, down from $22 million last year.

Net profit after tax (NPAT) was $9.5 million, up from $9 million last year.
