CHA does the wallaby in Victoria

Looking to consolidate its presence in regional Australia, CHA has embarked on its first regional roadshow throughout country Victoria.

The show, which begins on August 29 at the All Seasons Ambassador Hotel in Geelong, will pave the way for future events throughout the country as the national distributor seeks to emphasise the importance of its regional channel partners.

"The market in Australia is very parochial and we understand that a regional presence is very important," CHA managing director Peter Thatcher, said. "We also believe customer loyalty is very important. We are lucky in that we have good relationships with vendors that are giving support at the reseller level."

CHA has recently become Acer's number one distributor nationally, and Acer's desktop PCs and TravelMate notebook range will head up the roadshow. The distributor will also showcase its range of Minolta-QMS printers, including the newly released PagePro 1100L.

Thatcher described recent field research within country Victoria as "very encouraging" as resellers displayed strong support for a concept previously only available to dealers in capital cities.

CHA has recently finished a roadshow through Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne, showcasing some of its other top vendors' products.

CHA is also in the process of setting up reseller assist programs to help its partners run their businesses more profitably. Thatcher said the mobile computing sector will become an increasingly important part of CHA's business and as a distributor the company would act as a font of knowledge for the vendor.

"We have always been very, very strong in the mobile sector, we are Acer's number one distributor and we are also very strong with Toshiba. We are focusing on mobile computing to move forward.

"Most of our resellers are very aware of the fact that the mobile computing is getting larger and larger," Thatcher added.

The roadshow will move onto the George Hotel in Ballarat on August 30 and will finish at the Barclay On View in Bendigo on August 31.
