NTT, IBM, Tivoli ink e-business outsourcing pact

NTT Communications, IBM and Tivoli Systems have reached an agreement to work together on offering electronic business outsourcing services to Japanese companies.

The new outsourcing service, which is due to be launched in April 2000, will be marketed by NTT Communications, the long distance and international arm of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT). It will combine NTT's OCN (open computer network) Internet access service with IBM's e-business servers running enterprise management software from Tivoli.

Customers will be offered a range of service from basic intranet and Internet outsourcing to consulting, design, and implementation of managed computer networks and IT solutions, the companies said. The services will be aimed at Japanese companies of all sizes, ranging from small home offices to large corporations.

The deal represents the second major agreement in Japan for Tivoli in the last month. In late November, the company announced a bundling deal with Fujitsu Ltd.
